well some of you might be happy to know they are making the park quarters at 1/7th the mintage of the average state quarter, so far.
The three inch five ounce coins still don't have an official release date or even a price, but the Mint has bought a press for them, lined up a supply of blanks, and shown sample output.
According to the Mint's website, they made roughly 60 million Hot Springs quarters. While that is lower than the State quarters - that's still 60 million quarters!!! For a program that few people know about and even fewer give a rip about, that's an incredibly high mintage. Do you have any concept of how many 60 million actually is?
Plenty of people are collecting the Parks Quarters. Out of the 147,000,000 that collected the state quarters, most will probably collect the Parks too. I figure some are just taking a breather after finishing the states, but won't be able to hold out indefinitely.
I got two rolls of the Hot Springs quarters at my bank for face value. I don't think I would spend more than face value for them. Still having a hard time finding a roll of uncirculated native american dollars at my bank or any other bank.
This is funny since I was at Home Depot today and I watched the cashier open a brand new roll of pennies........I was like finally I will get a 2010 to put in my book. I was getting 56 cents back so I asked for 6 pennies and 2 quarters. She looked at me funny and then got the 6 pennies. She handed me the change and low and behold the pennies are all 2008-P. :crying:
Get them at the US Mint for face value....they are fun to spend plus you get to look for errors!! http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&identifier=8100
We had a short discussion about this on another thread. I should just spring for the 250 from the mint and then slowly spend them. I only want to keep a couple of rolls. My local coin shop is selling them for $3 for each individual coin. Ouch! My bank always has tons of the presidential rolls as soon as they come out. For some reason none of the native american dollars.
Hate to admit it but I'm on the mint subscritpion list for the ATB quater rolls and got first two series already. Hate paying the premium but I know I won't miss any this way and who knows, maybe one of the rolls will contain some freakish mule error. Also bought the clad and silver proof sets and they are BY FAR some of the nicest proof sets I've gotten from the mint in a lonnng time. Superior Quality for once! )
My bank manager sold me 2 rolls of the new yellow stone qtrs today and she put my name & phone # on a list to call me if she gets the next Yosemite National Park qtr rolls in she told me that she cant special order them like the state qtrs though
I'm a sucker and I buy the proof set every year myself. I found two rolls of uncirculated 2000 Sacagawea dollars (in the us mint packaging btw - not sure how that happened) for face value at my bank earlier this year. Sometimes I guess you just have to ask to see what they have!
Well 60 million times 5 issues is 300 million or about one third to one sixth the number of quarters produced annually in the five years before the state quarter program started. Translation: People will continue to throw their spare change into jars at the end of the day.
State Park Quarters Recieved in the mail from Bradford Exchange a requst for a cofirmation on purchasing this set one coin from each mint and a display album for 15.95 per set of two of each mint and would total 12 coins when completed since there is six coins. Can you tell me by chance if these would even be worth buying or not? I see they have a high # of minting. I would be paying about 100 dollars for this complete set. I see they currently have them for sale currently on their site.
