I don't see that self slabbed coins are prohibited by the rules, so not sure of the reason for posting.
Even if they were here, what evidence would one have to prove they did the self slabbing, what if the coin was purchased that way?
Just for fun I slabbed myself. For those who are interested I graded XF-40 harshly cleaned but no details grade.
The link to the post on open forum here http://www.cointalk.com/t112147/ This guy has an online coin shop with his very own grading service NACGS http://www.babcockpublishing.com/coins/index.htm. Self slabbing your own coins to sell is just not kosher. Uneducated collectors get taken for a ride on this kind of stuff all the time.
The guy is pretty up front about it. http://www.nacgs.com/about-us.htm This kind of thing doesn't bother me at all. What I object to is guys trying to mimic the TPG'ers slabs both with appearance and acronym. This fellow isn't doing that.
Don't click "enter here" on that last link. It's a porn link, not sure what's he's trying to pull there.
Yes, and purely judging by 15 year old website design on both pages I would say the owner is the same person.
I can't help myself...I just keep clicking it and clicking it Not really lol Thanks for the warning though.
The big difference here is that top tier tpg's do not SELL coins. They may have relationships with dealers that constitute a conflict of interest, but they themselves do not sell coins.
