Want to have some real fun... pay with what some friends and I call the "trifecta" a $2 bill an Ike dollar and a Kennedy half Most places don't have a spot in their cash draw for any of those denominations, and definitely not for all three :mouth:
You wouldn't believe how many times I've paid with Prez and Susie B. dollars, and the clerks had to take my word that they were real. Chris
Hey, I was talking with my mother about how Taco Bell should also use halves, and we came up with an idea that they should do: 50 cent drinks. Well, for maybe a small or medium, they could make them 50 cent drinks for a while, or as long as they're promoting $2s. As I said, we already have a circulating $1 denomination: The $1 bill, so lets forget about those dollar coins for a while, and try to get the $2 bill and the half circulating as two new common denominations, keyword NEW. And I really do think that the vending machine and self checkout companies should take the plunge and upgrade their machines to take halves, just like CoinStar did. (I know CoinStar machines are change cash-in machines, but if they could upgrade those machines to take halves, I am sure any cash accepting machine company can upgrade as well) :hail:
When you can just walk in to the bank and get them there,s not much Of an incentive, Walmart tried this with the golden dollar with similar results!!
Except that Walmart actually had the golden dollars a month or so *before* the banks did, through some sort of promotional agreement with the Mint. I remember I went to Walmart the day they first released the coins, bought some cheap item with a $20, was asked whether I'd like one Sackie as part of my change, and replied that I'd take *all* my change in Sackies if it was all right. Then I went back into the store, grabbed another cheap item, and repeated the process in another checkout lane. Then I went to several stores that *weren't* Walmart and proceeded to confuse their cashiers by trying to spend the things. I even took a few to my bank, to remind them to order some when they were finally able to. Ah, the memories....
The BEP printed 16.9 Mil. in 2006 and I can still get uncirculated notes in the 14/15 Mil s/n range. Way to go TB - we need to finish up the notes in the vaults so the BEP will print again. LOL
The head of the Treasury Dept. doesnt pay his taxes so Im sure Taco Bell will be successful with having clout with something small like the 2 dollar bill.
Sucker! You did exactly what WalMart wanted you to do! All I did was go to the service desk and ask if I could have 4 rolls of them. No problem! Chris
And how about a $5 coin series depicting the First Parents/ (Grandparents for the First Children though aka the President's, and First Lady's parents)
With the size of the national debt, I'm doing everything I can to help reduce it by using dollar coins instead of bills, and I think others should too. If the govt was smart they would stop printing 1 and 2 dollar bills like Canada did, and use coins. And make a 5 dollar coin so you can actually buy something with coins.
Getting rid of the dollar is a bad idea!! Do you want to walk around with a whole bunch of them in your pocket? Do you think it's wrong for the U.S. government to be working with private companies like this? Please let me know your opinion on the government working with Taco Bell. All coin talkers let me know! vnickels
my bank said they have $2400 in twos I wonder if I should buy them and see if their is anything good in there.
Taco Bell and $2 bills in the past: http://www.snopes.com/business/money/tacobell.asp Snopes couldn't find out for sure whether it really happened, and the original story about it didn't end in an arrest.
Don't get them all if it's too much but definitely get some I've been getting about $200 in $2 bills every month for almost a year and I love spending them around town.
