Now, I've seen some crazy things, but I don't believe this one. This just highlights the need for toning collectors to understand what toned coins should look like, and don't just blindly rely on TPG's: http://cgi.ebay.com/1974s-NGC-PF67-...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item563d1e231d
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by fruit squeezer, but that seller is actually a highly respected and knowledgeable purveyor of toned coins. His inventory is generally excellent - which is why this one stuck out like a sore thumb.
When you squeeze fruit you get juice. All his pictures are juiced. Look at his toned peace dollars, they look like they have glitter sprinkled on them. I know he is a well known seller and hes very popular because he gets great money for consigners. But the coins dont look like that in hand we all know that. All that being said if you know how to look at juiced coins, you know what youre getting and in that regard he has some very nice inventory. But it sells much higher than id be willing to pay for most stuff.
Look at the glitter. She looks like a stripper: http://cgi.ebay.com/1924-PCGS-MS64-...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item563cb21915
Here's another one to look at. A nice coin by all means as we have all seen hundreds of these battle creek coins. But look at the fields...it is so juiced it looks like a heavy matte finish! http://cgi.ebay.com/1887-NGC-MS64-B...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item5639139974
Dunno...my remark was removed...hit a nerve somewhere with someone. I feel as though I've been censored from my true feelings about this coin via the holder/seller. Then again it just might have been my internet connection.
There generally isn't too much heavy censorship on this board, and generally not with this issue unless you had something to sell (or used profanity). Send me a PM with what you had to say.
Juiced, diffused light pics, I'm sure in hand it looks nothing like the pics. The colors are definitely much more subdued. I'm not too familiar with Ikes but I believe that circle toning pattern is pretty common, so I would say it's probably NT.
I have no problem with the obverse, which appears to be album toning (albeit with somewhat... enhanced... photo's). What I have a problem with is the reverse, with the highly unusual pattern and incredibly vibrant double banded exactly perfect identical rainbows.
same here. I'm also not sure what that pink toning is above the eagle... But yeah, reverse look pretty funky. I know some coins can have crescent toning, but I have never seen anything like that before.
I have seen a lot of listings where the coin is listed as toned, when they really should say corroded. :goof:
Dark spots indicate this was heated at high temps to cause the toning...........I am stunned at how good the out come was though... you have to admit it looks like album toning
