I have noticed that more of the new 2010 shield cents are starting to show up in my area as of late. Both D's and P's are being found in change around here. The best source so far....has been my wife's change purse. :mouth: Anyone else seeing them showing up in their area lately?
Have not seen one in circulation but a freind of mine gave me a handfull of them, all Philadelphia minted. Seeing 2009s regularly now, I did 4 rolls today and only got one, it's the least amount of 2009s I've gotten in a batch of four rolls since mid 2009 itself!
they are starting to show up here on a regular basis. 2010 dimes too. sadly, all have been philly mint.
I finally just saw a 2009 dime in circulation recently. A 2010 dime? No way. Not in these parts anyway.
yea, i have been saving all the 2010 cents i have been getting in change, not sure why. the best source for me is my girls change purse also!! for some reason i really love this design. its simple but imo, beautiful. i almost wouldn't mind a permanent switch. but i fear it may take something away, seeing them all the time. i am not really a fan of the memorial reverse. my favorites are the shield and wheats...

I (Well, my brother) got one 2010 dime at the local McDonald's last month, a total shock to me as I didn't see a 2009 dime until April of this year. So far I've only gotten one of each. I got my first 2008 nickel in a roll yesterday! I had traded for an uncirculated example but I had not gotten any in normal routes- change and roll searching. It was beat up pretty badly and is now in the spending jar with all my other roll searching rejects. (lol) Panda, the switch to the Shield IS permanent! I am happy with it as well, because I really like the design. I like it better than the memorial and it's still too new for me to determine if I like it as much as the Wheat...but I think in time, I will! (If only the quality control was as good now as it was when wheats came out!) Here's a scan of my best copy. Fresh copper doesn't scan well.
Awesome pattern. If only I had a couple thousand dollars laying around.... I would have actually preferred that pattern over the Lincoln shield cent itself. I really would like to see an end to all the presidents on our coins, and geared towards more artistic symbols of our nation. I found my first shield cent here in SE Michigan a few weeks ago, and it happened to be from the tougher mint (denver for me).
yup, starting to see them quite a bit here. I even got a P&D sheild cents encased, along with all the 2009's. Yaaa...
wow, it really is a permanent change? thats cool!! at the coin show today some guy asked one vendor if he had any and if this was the only design coming out for 2010. they then were talking about when the memorial will return? i guess not a lot of people know about this..
Interesting...they have said from the start that this was permanent! They must not have missed that info. The eagle on the quarter is done as well, it's not coming back after the park series ends
