Yeah, speaking of supplies, I got 50 square coin tubes for a grand total of like $20 online. Those would cost me way more at a dealer.

I just restocked too---I paid $12 for 20 round half tubes, but they come with a storage box. Also 100 2X2's and 25 2X2 3 ring binder pages for $15. No telling what a dealer sells them for---I wouldn't even know because I buy almost EVERYTHING I own other than food on eBay----

Well, I just finished up box #2 of 4. Nothing like yesterday's haul, for sure. Results:

    -4 40%er's (1 with a nice DDR)
    -1 Bicentennial Clad Proof

I think I'm gonna build a paper pyramid and place it on the last 2 boxes overnight---maybe it will concentrate the powers of the heavens and change copper into silver.:) The new, modern version of Alchemy!:goofer:

Well, I just finished my 4 boxes of halves. This has been my best haul yet. I got 27-40% and 2-90%. I'm very happy with the results. Also a 1987. That makes 3 business strikes and 1 proof for these. I'm still waiting to find my first 1970.

Me too! I've yet to find any 1970's or 1987's. Quite a few 2002+ though---

    Supplies

My son and I stopped in one of the local coin shops to get a few things including some storage containers for halves. They sell both the square and the round ones for $0.36 each whihc is cheaper than what I have seen and what you all paid. I bought 15 of them for about $5.50. With fees and shipping, coin stores can sill be a better value when BUYING.

As far as how they stay in business...We were in the store about 20 minutes. 3 elderly couples, and 2 elderly ladies came in with bags/boxes/cans of silver coins or gold jewelry that they all sold to the store for way under value. There was also an estate sell 5 minutes away that had a bunch of foreign coins and notes from a collection. I asked the guy at the coin store I talk to if they had been to the estate sale and he said they get so much walk in traffic they don't need to go shopping.

I wanted to invite the people outside and make a better offer for their coins than the store..hahaha One lady had over 400 morgan and peace dollar that she sold them...sigh I at least got to look at them out on the counter as they counted lol.

    Question about Canadian

I pulled a 1940 Canadian half out of a roll today (Very nice shape). It sounds and looks like has silver in it. Can anyone verify that for me?

I am glad that when I die, I will never have to answer to "Why did you take advantage of those old ladies for money" ? I know that's how they do business. Truly glad we have found a different way to survive.

If someone left one on your front door welcome mat , would that count as "finding" one ? :)

    Erin:
A 1940 Canadian Half is 80% silver with 0.3000 oz ASW
Mintage of 1,996,566 (too bad it wasn't 1 year older, much lower mintage).

In my Standard Catalogue of World Coins (2009 edition, so it is a little out of date), it lists for $6 in XF40, and $27 in MS60. Nice find.

I searched one box today and found 1 40%er and a 1998S half. I didn't have that proof before and fills a hole in my circulation Kennedy proof set. Believe it or not, from 1971 to 2009, I only have 12 holes left (all from circulation).

If anyone has multiple proof finds from circulation, I'd be happy to trade....
