When did you order? They are normally very fast with shipping. However, they may have run out of stock since the first batch sold quickly. The second lot is on it's way to them now so supply will not be problem soon.
Zekeguzz: Congratulations for your finding, and congratulations for the resolution of the picture. Beside the Scarf on the neck, this is what others can't see. Most sure my inmagination only. But Check all over the Suit any way.
Carlos- This image is from another coin from the exact same die, and as you can see it looks completely different. You are creating things that are not there. These markings are post-mint marks.
BadThad, I ordered just recently and just got the shipped notice at 3:49pm today. I also payed the least amout I could, $9.20. So it'll hopefully be here by Saturday the 12th of June. jallengomez is there I can look online at a complete list of authentic DIE MARKERS with nothing missing or added. I think that Coppercoins is supposed to be the best but I just didn't see enough markers of any Die to really definetely say " This is the die that made my cent " without having a lttle doubt. Carlos, thanks for the compliment on the resolution of the scan I posted. It's alway gratifying when someone notices another's effort to post the best images they can.
Zekeguzz- Variety Vista is the best place I know. Were you looking at this page? http://www.varietyvista.com/1988PRDV0062%20cent.htm
I found a zincoln about the same color as yours with a small, but heavy, corrosion spot. I did this in about 5 minutes, soaked for 4 minutes and rubbed with a toothpick while soaking for about a minute.
If I submitted a cent like that and it graded AU55, Evironmental damage do yo think that would justify the fees? It would get slabbed, correct?
My 2 cents In an unc/or higher grade I would have it graded. but no not yours just find a nice Ngc/Pcgs type cent holder and note the D/V& self slab it:kewl:
Personally, I'd never waste the money submitting a corroded coin unless it was worth good $$$ and required authentication. Sometimes a "details" holder isn't all bad.
Thanks. I asked because I have NGC certificate for five free early bird coins on one submittle form.. I'm hunting for any coins that I have that are worth sending in. But this for another thread.
Each year that I get the NGC certificate for the free submissions, I try to select coins that I normally wouldn't send if I had to pay for the service. For example, with my last certificate, I submitted an 1878 8TF Morgan that I was sure would not grade better than MS62, but the obverse was a strong DPL. I thought it would get a "star". It came back MS62*. I really don't recommend submitting coins whose value is too low, but I also don't think you should waste the certificate on coins that are obviously damaged. What other coins do you have in your collection? Proof sets? Mint sets? Have you searched any bags or rolls of business strikes? Chris
I have the following: 1999 -- 2007 proof sets, and a 2009 proof set. 2007, 2008, and two 2009 silver proof sets. Several UNC nickles and quarters from the 60's and 70's. About five Ikes in EF condition at best. Same with the Keneddy halves(three 64's). A 43 walker in EF condition. An 1882-P Morgan in EF at the very best guess. And Lincoln Memorial Cents about 500 of them. Maybe 100 in AU and 20 or 30 in BU. Nothing worth sending in. That is all. I do have the three piece 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative proof set but I'd hate to break that up for Slabbed coins. OH! I do have the 1999 -- 2008 State Quarter Set, BU condition. See not much to choose from unless I get lucky
nice coin....to bad about the ugly spot. hard to find these coins. last time i heard, there were around 50 known.
I sent a coin in Ngc/conservative services$18.00 was the cost. to have a spot remove since it was was a rare Venezuela 1/4 Bolivar Ngcos did add detail but I not sure they add a DV for free?
So if NCS treats a spot on a coin, they won't give it an official grade? Or is it only when the spot is still visible after treatment? Even though they would probably give you a details slab, I would send it in because it is so rare and looks like AU or UNC details.
I like that Cashdude. I found another lincoln cent to submit: 1999 P Wide A M possible EF40 condition. IT'S my second one. First one is MS65 Red ANACS. Where oh where is my 1992 Close AM that I'm hoping to find.
If NCS is able to conserve the coin completely, it is then sent to NGC for grading if that is what the submitter requests. Not all coins are necessarily sent to NGC for encapsulation. Sometimes the submitter wants the raw coin returned after conservation. The unfortunate result of this conservation appears to be that the spot had apparently etched itself into the surface metal and could not be fully restored. NCS no longer slabs the coins since NGC now encapsulates all problem coins in a Details slab like this one. I recall a similar occasion where a submitter had sent in a proof coin for conservation to remove a dull haze that covered the entire coin. When the haze had been successfully removed, it revealed hairlines from an improper cleaning, and NGC had no choice but to put it in a Details slab. Chris
