Yesterday, I found a 1950 $50 Philadelphia Mule star. The serial number is C0000690X*. The condition is excellent, crisp, one very light center fold. Any indication on a value range? Greatly appreciate any assistance.
In the book "United States Paper Money" 2005; p. 292, has the retail price: vg-8 $100; f-12 $125; vf -20 $150; EF=40 $250; UNC-63 $775 In the book "Small-Size U. S. Paper Money 6th edition p. 252; cu $800 In the green sheet, it has no star notes of regular issues listed RF 2107 Wholesale prices; au $55-60; cu $60-65, cu 63 $70-80; cu 64 $80-90; cu 65 $$115-125; cu 67 $160-175. I hope this helps. -O)
That is a realitively low Serial number and a star to boot. Images would be very nice to see as well and might aid the folks here to help you a little better. RB
Sweet find! I'd hold onto that in that condition! Thanks for posting the picture. If you have a scanner and could scan the note we might be able to see the condition even better. If you can, scan both sides and include all the edges (margins).
that's okay. the note has a significant center crease and corners look to be bumped/rounded. the top margin may be bumped some as well. the printing seems pretty well centered which is good. these are all big things for high grade collectors. That low SN and star makes this pretty nice in my book too.
here's a completed e-bay listing http://cgi.ebay.com/1950-50-FRN-STA...73262390QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0
I agree with mpcusa with the range. It's in between VF to VF+, although I'd lean more towards VF than + due to the significant center crease and the bumped corners. As for price, due to the low serial # and the fact that it is also a star, I would ask a slight premuim over normal book price in that range.
