The bank can order New $2 Bills for you, but there is no guarantee as to which series you will receive. They could be 1976, 1995, or 2003.

They are within their rights to charge a small fee. Its usually not more than 10 cents per roll of coin or pack of currency. However, if you have an account at the bank, they usually waive the fee.

    two dollars bill

that's cool, thanks. i wonder my bank will entertain me on this. before i lived in a foreign country. i can easily change 100 bundle of new paper money from the central bank at will and no fee. that also applied to coins.

The bank I go to always gives me two dollar bills and half dollars with no charge of any kind. For the halves they usually have to go to a vault because they normally don't keep them handy. No one really wants them. Same with the baby dollar coins. They will usually give me any of that stuff and as much as I want because they'll just sit there otherwise. They've told me I'm the only customer that ever wants that type of bills or coins. Fine with me.

You can buy directly from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing at http://www.moneyfactory.gov/store/section.cfm/69.
If you live in the Washington DC area they have a gift shop where you can buy these.
You can ask your bank, I have gotten crisp new $2 bills just a few months ago from my bank. I got them to spend for the reaction factor!
If you want the 1976 series I've seen some pretty good deals on ebay, just watch the S&H charges.

Same with me as already noted that my bank will give me all of the halves, baby dollar coins and two dollar bills I want. They even gave me many rolls of the new quarters. They think I'm nutty too because no one wants that stuff. I think it's just fun to watch people's faces when I buy something with those types of items. There has been a few times when someone wouldn't take the two dollar bills because they thought they were fakes.

I noticed a lot of these years-old "annie21" threads have been resurrected by elaine 1970,
are you the same people by any chance? What's the connection, or just coincidental?
Curiosity got the better of me, so I had to ask.
