There's no better way to compliment a collection. Serious quarter collectors should snatch them up...

These the same ones the mint used to sell?

It sounds like it, they come with certificate of authenticity and the rest of the info. So, they were probably sold by the mint at one time or another...

I hope folks realize that the die has been ground completely smooth and that there is no remnant of any design left.

    Ya think? :)

Otherwise our Chinese friends would have a field day.....

I wrote this because not all that long ago the US Mint would deface dies and then sell them with partial or significant detail remaining. Some of the dies simply had a deep X carved into them while others were heated and partially melted in spots. Those two options are much more attractive to most collectors than to purchase a smooth faced die.

Sorry Tom, just being a smart Alec. I never knew that. I always thought that they were ground down completely.

Quite true. But someplace buried in my files and disk I've got pictures of a Morgan dollar die that I had the chance to buy once - that is not defaced.

Of course, if you listen to some of the folks around here, I took that picture when the die was new

Yeah, you probably took the photo when the die was brand new, and you were about 20.
