    Hold on...

Allow me to revel in my less than 1/4 of a century age. :goofer:

Nah, I would rather be older than younger right now... with the direction this country is headed and all...

    I think they're there...somewhere.

I'm 52 years old and I don't remember ever seeing a young collector, even when I was young.

You need to get out more :D

Seriously, I have personally started many a youngster on his & her collecting path. And when I say youngster, I mean from the age of 5 and up.

LOL ! You've obviously never sold a collection. Do you have any idea how long it takes to sell an entire collection 1 coin at a time ? I never woulda lived long enough to start the second one

Gonna get you too Mag :D

If you collect long enough you get a big collection. And if you seriousy love the coins for themselves, and their history and stories, I think you eventually get to the point you don't care if you make or lose money. That isn't the point of collecting them. I've collected for a long time. If my collection were sold it would bring a significant figure. Would I make money? Would I lose? I don' know and I don't care. As I look at it, if you place a value on all the time I have enjoyed spend time with and working on my collection, the return on my investment has been ENORMOUS, even if it is a monitary loss.

I'm not worried about where the "replacements" are. I've been actively collecting for almost 40 years now. Memberships in the local clubs I attend has NOT declined over that time period, and some of the clubs are larger now than they were back then. and the interesting thing is over that nearly forty year span, the average age of the membership has NOT significantly changed (an increase of less than one year) As was mentioned earlier, the average age of the ANA membership has not changed either.
