1892 Morgan Dollar Countermark?

    Is this a countermark that was stamped into this dollar? If so does anyone know why it was used?

    We had that exact thing on here not long ago. Yes it's a countermark, but a private countermark put there by an individual not a monetary authority. Basically it is considered to be damage to the coin.
