Cause the shop didn't offer it. And it sounds like he's not much of a friend. But I'm just guessing here.

The pawn shop on Pawn Stars offered $400? That is surprising because they seem to be pretty good about spotting fakes and bringing in experts. Sorry about your friends luck.

Could be he didn't know, they have been faking these things for over 40years! This was posted on CT some time ago.

The second line of mine was "But I'm just guessing here"

These threads usually turn bad when people don't hear what they want to hear. I'm thinking the coin is a fake, again just my opinion. With or without the back story that to me sounds fishy too.
    DON"T TAKE IT PERSONALLY PLEASE

and now I'm backing out of here too.
Good luck with the coin and I do hope it works out for you either way.

If he drove all the way to Vegas from NY to get a pawn dealer to look at a fake coin and convinced them (who are pretty good coin guys) to offer $400 for a piece of lead or white copper, then I have a job for him and his talent and dedication in the DC area.:rolling:

Not to beat a dead horse but that coin is definitely %100 fake.

    no chance, no how.

    Absolutely.

Multiple people instantly knew it was a fake. Didn't need calipers or scales. Ya wanna know how we knew ?

Because it simply doesn't look like the real thing. Not even close.

LD is 100% right - the coin has 0% chance of being real. Not no way, not no how. Open and shut case, slam dunk. :hammer: Period. The end.

I do not collect U.S. coins and it appears 99.99% Fake and in the .01% chance that it is real, after it was minted in the U.S. it was shipped to China and struck by one of their dies that makes fakes and than was shipped back over to your friend :)

Absolutely, positively, 100% fake without any chance in the world of being a legitimate US Mint product. How do I know this? Because I know what US coins look like and that is one of the worst fakes I have ever seen. It is also in absolutely no way any type of pattern. It is a modern counterfeit. Essentially worthless.

im not doubting its fake, if you read my reply's. judging the integrity of someone you don't know, is what upset me, this guy is a good person and does not lie. so firtsty, I know now its fake, secondly, i don't care, thirdly, everytime i post something on here i get the same responce, "its fake" well, so what.......

yes, thank you, i was not sure, but AFTER measuring it with my calipers to get the size, i definitely know its not a real half dime, but maybe something else..... thats what i was thinking, people dont have to be rude, o repetitive in their posts, if 5 people say its fake, and they have many posts, or are administrators i will believe them, no need to be repetitive about the "fake" thing.

whoa... this thread is kind of funny to me... not because the coin is fake, but because I didn't even know the United States Mint produced flowing hair half Dimes... Funny thing though, even though I had never ever seen one in my life... I knew this one was a counterfeit. :p

The people on this thread did you a favor. On the other hand, I understand your disappointment; it would be a great coin if it were real. Just remember the villain here is the one who made the fake coin, specifically to cheat people like you.
