I have a 1988 Penny with the bottom of the back 8 not stamped so you have 198 and the top of 8 on last digit. It looks like it was definately done at the mint. I can't find die mistakes like it listed. Any thoughts on what I should do to find out its value. Thanks

It sounds like a grease filled die strike. Not worth much more than a few times face value depending on condition, but a cool piece to hang onto.

Can you post a pic? Sounds like a grease filled die, which is not a very rare error.

I think your right, its like a blob on bottom of the 8, like a bump over the bottom half of the 8. I will try and post a picture. Thanks!
