My 7 year old daughter found this in the back yard tonight. all i did was rinse it off. What do you all think?
Thanks. Well we are just right outside the city on old farm land in KS- thats the strange thing! This house was competly gutted and rebuilt this winter and of course the yard is a disaster. I believe over the years past family used it as a trash pile. My girls love digging for "treasure". Might have to go and rent a metal detector now! I do have this link to the exact same coin- seriously though??!! http://www.trocadero.com/Senatus/items/940440/item940440.html
Amazing how it found it's way to Kansas. There are a lot of very knowledgable Ancient coin collector on CT (unfortunately, I'm not one of them). If it were my coin, I would send it in and have it professionally conserved and authenticated/graded. The metal detector is a great idea, too. I recently worked in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Some friends there are heavy into metal detecting and they find all sorts of Civil war artifacts...uniform buttons, ammo, etc. They have a blast doing it.
