Also what else do you guys bring to the tellers that are extraordinarily nice to you besides things like cookies or brownies? Anything? or is it just something simple like that?

That's about all I do. To be honest, it has been an easier task for me to GET the boxes than to RETURN the boxes to my "dump" bank. They gave me some grief today when I brought in my 4 boxes for deposit, complaining that they don't have the "vault space" for them. Hoooooey. They just don't like having to wrestle nearly 100 lbs. of coins TO the vault IMHO. I may have to open an account at another bank just to get rid of the rejects!:(

Got 10 rolls of pennies from my bank this AM (PST).

    1 1942-P VF
    1 1943-S Very damaged
    1 1955-S EF+
    2 1960-D Small Date
All others just the same old same old.

Actually, I've seen some vaults at banks that were very small and this actually would be an inconvenience to them......

I have given tellers IKE and Steelies before. They loved it.

I am still a beginner at Numismatics, even though I’ve been interested in coins all my life. What re-started my interest was the 1999 State Quarters series. Coin errors especially fascinate me both from the technical aspect, as well as possible money-makers.
Here is my question as it relates to the “searching rolls”. In the 2007 Annual Mint Set I found the James Madison Dollar with miss-rolled/slipped edge lettering (no space between “UNUM and IN). Question to all of you: should I take this coin out of the set and perhaps get it graded, or leave this in the set (and do what?). Is this a common error (though I have not seen any of these on EBay) or something that is worth good money.

I would really appreciate your comments and ideas.

    $410 in bank roll halves - nothing. $90 in CWR - 2009 p.

In the last $1500 in halves I've found only one silver. The well hath runneth dry.

Also, if one more teller gives me grief for asking for halves, I may come unglued.

Additional $500 in halves yielded nothing.

You might consider making contact with some Buddhist temples in your area since there are some ceremonies that involve multiple coins , all of the same size. A Filipina women asked me if I could get her 100 half dollars for just such a ceremony. Another good way to dispose of them is to order Domino's pizza and just give them 2 rolls of halves and let them keep the change:)

 LOL!! Maybe I'll try that approach Kang! Problem is, it may take awhile to eat 100 pizzas!

You're making it real hard to like those guys. LOL I got 19 rolls of dimes and 4 rolls of cents at the bank today. I was RIGHT ! They hadn't gotten the delivery yet. Only 1 wheat cent and 1 1964 in the 4 rolls. Did 5 rolls of dimes for ZIP. They took my halves, but didn't have any at all.

I think Las Vegas is tough. Probably 98% of the population is roll searching or at least checking every coin they get.

Anyway, go find some more and make us all jealous. LOL

Oh, it's 111 degrees at my house today. My A/C is out. Every fan is going full blast and the tech won't be here until tomorrow. This started on Saturday. So if you never hear from me again, it has been fun. I really enjoyed you guys.

Holy crap, that's hot as balls. I'd go spend the day in a casino or hell a mall, anywhere.

Think cool thoughts & stay hydrated. I think I would be spending alot of time in the frozen food section of multiple grocery stores. Actually , I'd probably grab my laptop and head to the main library in order to stay cool & connected.

Just FYI there are still a few casinos that use real coins. I went into one right next to Circus Circus and put a $20 in the $0.50 machine then cashed it out and tried a few more. When it is that hot, you may try "slot machine" searching instead of roll searching.

It reminds me of the time I spent in Phoenix, They kept saying, ..."but it's a DRY heat..." and I kept responding that 112 is still too darned HOT! (pardon my French...)

Looked through 30 rolls of cents tonight. 8 wheaties. Oldest 1928. Probably 30% copper. Plus, 5 of those cool seagull canadians.

    Carry on.

Oh, we NEVER go to the strip. Last time I was there was 2001. I generally stick to the "books" that are more "local friendly". I like knowing the Valets and Cocktail waitresses' by name and they know mine. Right now, my chaffeur (my wife since I don't drive any more) needs to be close to the house for her mother. So, roll searching or Oprah. LOL

i love vegas and i do remember that casino with the coin slots. i think it had a subway sandwich place in it.. i went there 2 summers ago when i was 20, so i could only watch:(. missed it last year, but i cant will till July!!!

anyway i forgot about a bank, that is sorta on a bad street. i was really hoping they would tell me they can't get halves. just so i don't have to walk out with a box of money!

they did tell me she can "look" into ordering them. she was a nice lady and said there are these two old dusty rolls of quarter that just sit in the back of the vault. she said she was tired of looking at them, so i picked them up. i was hoping for silver, but they ended up being BU bicentennial quarters. i guess i am sorta happy, i opened one roll and they are all great. only a few have some scratches. i found one that is perfect, not a ding on it.. i am going to replace it in my quarter collection. not sure what i am going to do with the rest or the roll, but probably hang onto it for now.

  20. I would have been thrilled to get BiCentennials. I save every one I find as a tribute to my dad, when he was alive he saved every single one, so now I do as well.

Currently have 44 of them :) I am sure there are more hidden away somewhere because I know he saved every single one he saw, yet when I found his stash there were only about 25 of them. Just have to figure out where he put them...knowing him, probably in his toolboxes! :)
