Hi, I try to find VAM number corresponding to an error like that... Maybe someone know what it is. Thank you!
It all depends on the year and mint mark. Check out Vamworld.com and you can look them up rather easily.
CD, We can't really help without seeing the full obverse and reverse. The overpolished leaves that you've shown us is a fairly common occurrence, and may only be used as a secondary diagnostic if at all. Chris
Hi, Add pictures with more details. There are some clash on the obverse and reverse sides. It is a 1883 O. Thank you.
There's not enough to tell me which one it is. You can look for yourself at: http://www.vamworld.com/1883-O+VAMs Some of those clash's are common and I just don't know which one. I need a close up of the date and the MM at least and that might help me.
Hi, Maybe i don't understand how to identify VAM... but 1F... i'm not sure... Add another picture with small clash on this coin. Thank you!
The obverse clash marks on the chin, lips and on the back of the Phrygian cap are common and not usually mentioned. So is the diagonal clash on Liberty's neck. The important one would be a letter transfer from the bottom of the "n" of IGWT immediately below the neck clash. There might also be an "s" and/or "t" clash from IGWT in the hair vee above the date. On the reverse, the cap vee clash is common between the eagle's wing and the top of the righthand wreath as is Liberty's profile between the eagle's wing and the lefthand wreath. The vertical clash from Liberty's neck between the "n" of IGWT and the eagle's right wing is also common. The important clash on the reverse would be the letter transfer of the "E" in LIBERTY between the eagle's tailfeathers and the wreath. This would appear raised on the coin and face northeast. Chris
I like Vams and this one is excessive polishing of the die, that's why the leafs are disconnecting, cool coin. Don
Hi, I think there is something on this region too. Maybe another clash :smile Seem to be near L than E of Liberty... Not easy to see... Thank you!
That is there the "E" would clash thru from the other side. If you can see that that is a cool one to get.
Hi, As you can see on these pictures, i don't think there is a clash.... maybe a little bit but not a extrem like at the right on the picture #1 Thank you All Experts!
Hi, Maybe an extra olive or something like that can compensate for E clash missing... There is something at the right picture too... Have fun... Many Thanks!
The clash you see on the far right of the top photo is the cap vee which is very common. I don't know what you are trying to show us in the bottom photo, but if you are trying to show us the area where an "E" clash could be, you're on the wrong end of the tailfeathers. The tailfeathers are numbered 1-7 from right to left. Chris
It looks like another overpolished leaf. Try not to stack your close-ups on top of one another. It makes it harder to determine the orientation. Chris
