Hey I just won this off of ebay it ended up going 3x Market ($147.50 with shipping) and I was just wondering if I got a good value or overpaid by a lot. I always have trouble with the premium toning generates, but let me know how I did... The nicks around the top of the neck and the bottom of the cheek bother me a bit, and the mark near the nose. See I think if those weren't there, the coin would have a shot at a 65. All and all, I think you did alright man, you've come a long way...you've come a long way That really is some beautiful toning and you got good pics too!
Those nicks are not bad at all for a 64 IMO. The toning looks nice but as for value of the toning...I can't help you there. It is a nice coin though.
Nice Morgan! :thumb: I think the price was fair. I could easily see myself paying that price for that coin.
It is not the rarest of Morgans and has some distracting marks on the obverse. But if it grades out MS-65 or over its a nice buy IMO. I like to stick with the graded Morgans from TPG. As for the toining its an excellent color and buy if this coin is the grade above IMO.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it... To be honest I just couldn't get over the mix of the light blue and neon colors
Sorry I didnt see the 64 as everyone seems to know. It is a very nice coin and I agree with you on the toning.
You payed for eye appeal all the way. Personally i would prefer those purty rainbows on the obverse but that is a beautiful coin.
The way it's holdered, the reverse is the obverse. I've always wondered why TPG do that. Is it because of eye appeal? In speical situations does the side with the most eye appeal get put on the front of the slab. (Special Situations=Toning)
I've seen it done with toned coins, it's also done with error coins (when the error is on the reverse).
I agree with you. Besides, it is one of Shanes (kryptonightcomics) coins and you should expect to pay a higher price than that of book value. I buy from him and don't mind paying more for eye appeal. The coins look just like in the pictures when you receive them and he is a great seller. Also, if you have any questions or concern, Shane is always more than willing to answer any of those. Again, congrats on your beautiful coin purchase. :thumb:
Goldstone, That is a Morgan Dollar with great eye appeal and Shane is a top notch seller of rainbow toned coins. The price you paid is very reasonable considering how good the coin looks in the photo. I would have expected it to go higher than $150. BTW, Shane's photos have gotten scary good over the last year. WOW!
