1901 Indian cent error coin or not?

    Anyone have a clue as to if this is a die error, planchet error or some other kind of error?

    It does not appear to be damage to me.

    I think it came from a holder much like this one.

    Yes, though your coin looks pretty nice with remaining luster, it was popped out from an ecasement, and is technically considered damaged.
