I'm tired of the hand-wrapping and the 8% charges. Looking for a light duty- preferably inexpensive mechanism that wont jam much. Can anyone recommend anything at all? US Coins btw. Thanks in advance.

    Thought I saw a battery-operated unit at Wal-Mart for under $20.00.

    Joe is my coin-sorter :thumb:

As he/we search through the change, the rejects get tossed into the denomination appropriate bowl. Then when we're all done Joe has the job of counting out and rolling them. Makes for good counting/math practice for him....AND saves my sanity. Must be working, his progress report came home yesterday and he has a 97 average in Math! :hail:

I hear ya! I told my wife that a good sorter was #1 on my Xmas list. I saw a very cool digital unit at Wal-Mart that sorts and puts the coins in rolls for $50. Wal-Mart had others from $20-$40.

I bought one of the Wal-Mart el-cheapos over 2 years ago and it's still serving me nicely. No problems whatsoever.

Grand kids work well. Just make sure they can count.

Not sure of the purpose of yours for the sorting of coins but you must not have kids that watch a program called Zoom on PBS. They just had a bunch of kids invent ways to sort coins. They did it with cardboard boxes, cardboard and some other stuff. I just take mine to the neighborhood bank and being a good customer they will run the coins through their machines and roll them or bag them for me or jsut deposit them into my account and all for nothing. These are obviously coins of no value you are discussing or you wouldn't be running them through a sorter so why not just take them to a bank?

Almost forgot but most stores I go to are always asking for change so why not just spend the stuff. Give the stores some. The other day I was in line at a Walmart store where a lady paid $27 in change. Could have been worse, it could have been a check that wasn't approved.
