Tom Corona has brought this up and I'd like to see what the poll comes out as. First one I didnt get the poll in. Opps
lol well the two with ""'s are from the thread and are terms used in there. I'm sure that will be the biggest number and I'm sure Tom Corona will just say that the upperclass thinks they are common...lol
you forgot the "extremely poor, but still collects" class. lol :goofer: i think i fit that one. i made $13,500 last year (and i refuse to take gov't assistance for anything... too much pride), and have only once in my life made more than $20k in a year, but i still have (imo) a nice collection. ALL of my spare money after bills, rent, food, etc., goes to my collection. and i like it that way. to quote aaron tippin... "everything i got, i got it honest"
fair enough. my fiancée made less than me last year. combined, it was less than $20k. we live together. we have a roof over our heads, food on our table, and coins in our collection. and we wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't think the classes are very well defined. There is always arguments about what is considered "middle class" of course and going strictly by income has little meaning between different regions of the country. For example, $40,000 annually might be a great salary if you live in Mississippi (Sorry Mississippi) but that would make you dirt poor in other parts of the country. I really can't pin myself to any of the classes you've listed.
Swish, I might be in that class "salary" too. I have never made more than $20,000 a year either. My hubby who is retired/disabled never has either. After taxes and insurance, the income verses expenses seems bad at times. Thank God for everything that we do have. Pride can be a good thing. I used mine to avoid bankruptcy some years ago. It took a long time, but I can pick up coins once again too. Congratulations on your collection. :smile BTW, I like the category of "common-folk."
I really can't remember what I made last year - I go month by month, and since I live at home my out-go is very low. A few months ago I made about $400, and the next month I made around $2000. There have been months where it was lower, but rarely is it higher. I'm looking at attending college and have saved up just about all the money needed to pay for the whole deal. I don't know where I would rate on the poll - I feel blessed that I'm able to pay my bills, spend money on enjoyment, and still be able to save money back for school, and unexpected bills. Speedy
glad you put in the common folk in there. some times when my credit card is clear i think i am rich. then i get the bill . then thats me for a few more months. but i get nice shiny coins for there money :goofer:
I'd say the majority of the people on this forum are of the common folk, and middle class, with a few being rich, and a few being really poor, a few on government assistance. I have no idea how Tom can seriously make his argument.
