Can you get the side that says Chisto to enlarge like the other side?

Nice looking coin. What do you mean by "Any ideas"?

    Hi Conder101,

I guess I mean is it rare or not with this error and any idea of value. Somebody sold one on e-bay quite recently for £180, so he's of the opinion that it's 'nothing special.' An owner of one in Germany has the opposite view and values it at nearer £500. So some trivialise the error and some don't. A writer on the Spink catalogue says he's not heard of the error and a curator at the London museum says (according to the £180 guy) that these dye erros were common during that period. Anyway, I cut the difference any put it on a very short auction (3 days-ebay) for £300 and see what happens. As a bit of a novice, you never seem to get a definitive answer on the things. If you ring a dealer, they typically say that a coin is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it: somewhat unhelpful. All the best, Marbury518 UK

Sold for £300 on e-bay to a fraud.....luckily didn't post it......eventually sold for £255 not bad but not great.

Can't say if it is rare or not, I don't know enough about the coin. But it was struck during a time when all the dies were made by hand with the letting punched or cut into each die individually, and usually by people who were not literate. Spelling errors on coins from that time period doe tend to crop up.
