I normally collect silver coins of all types but recently came upon three $1 notes still sealed in the plastic holders from "The United States Millennium Coinage And Currency Set". This set had an American Silver Eagle dollar and a Sacagawea dollar but the coins have been removed from their holders. Do these notes have any value by themselves? Would they be better saved in the original package, or should they be sent for grading? I got them real cheap and the packaging is pretty cool.

Nice find! - the $1 Sac. is worth more and some have been graded MS PL. Might explain why the coin is out of the set. Same w/ the ASE.

As for the $1 FRN's - If you send these in to PMG - based on the S/N's and holder they would have the "Millenium Note" pedigree. I have a 1995 $2 Star FRN that starts with the same J2000####* S/N and have the pedigree on the holder. The draw back is you'll spend $25 per note for grading unless you can do a batch submission of 50 notes @ $15 each.

    Thanks for sharing your find!

Thanks for the info, I had no idea that grading costs were that much. I only paid $2 each and have the mint packaging for each one. I'll just save them and maybe my grandson will have a valuable collectible in another few decades.

Oh yeah - grading notes ain't cheap! If I have notes that are on the fence, I'll wait till I have a batch submission to save on the fee(s).
