I checked in with the grading service today, and one of the $20 Saints I sent in was not graded--this was the reason: UNC DETAILS OBV PLANCHET FLAW

The coin was nice, probably a MS 64 otherwise. Thought I would share this and see if any other members here have had this type of experience. Should I try the other two major TPG's???

Must have been quite a planchet flaw to not grade.

You might consider re-submitting to PCGS if the flaw isn't bad -- the coin will be worth quite a bit more in PCGS 4 plastic than NGC or ANACS.

You might send it back in as a mint error and see if they holder it.

Thanks for the feedback. It has what I would call a "crevice" in the woman's breast on the St.G. It is quite pronounced.

I'd say the error idea is your best bet. Planchet flaws, if anything but minor are considered damage and most will not be slabbed - even by PCGS. But errors, that's another animal all together.
