I'm not a pro grader, just like nice coins and I was hoping 63 and thinking 62. I appreciate all the feedback, now I need to get the coin and figure out how to get it graded.
Thanks for the link. I'll review what they have and see if it works for me. I'm also considering having a dealer submit the coins I want graded for me. I'm not sure what would be the best route, and I'm in no hurry, so we'll see what happens.
Big jump in price between 63 and 64 for the '79-S Rev '78. I took a good look at the pics, and if they are accurate, imo this coin has a very good shot at 64.
That's a beautiful coin, it should go MS65, maybe MS66 all day long. But with the highlight marks on the face, probably go MS64. But wow what a nice coin.!!
That 64 would be really nice, but I'm not sure about the shaving nick on her chin. I vacillated over buying this for about 3 days and decided to pull the trigger very late in the game. Would I have a better shot at a 64 submitting through a dealer, or just as a private person with no previous business dealings. I have a couple really nice S and a few more CC morgans that actually deserve to be graded, but what would give me the best chance at getting the best grades possible?
Is this really one of their slabs, or some playful antics? If it is really one of their slabs, I appreciate the irony...
I think there's a chance, especially if the fields are as clean as they seem from the pics. Personally I don't think there's a better chance of getting a higher grade when sending through a dealer. Also for the Morgan series there's no real difference between PCGS and NGC (grade wise), so imo that shouldn't affect the grades either.
Thank you for the input. I'm not in a hurry to have them graded and am a bit leary of just sending in 10 coins. At the same time, I really do want to test my "eye" after a couple years of playing around with coins. I guess I really shouldn't read so much into what many of the naysayers or negative posters have to say and just believe in myself and that the .01% of bad get 99.99% of the press. Thanks for the feedback, it is really appreciated.
It was one of their slabs it was a MS 70 1976 evenTly toned quarter (yes "evenTly") with hairs in it. I replaced it with a more fitting coin I think.
The 79S 78 Reverse is a Top 100 coin, and I would definitely submit this one for grading to either NGC or PCGS. It's a solid 63 that could go 64. If you decide to submit it, please be aware that you must request and pay for the variety attribution. Congats! Chris
