OH, now I understand. He thought he was sending you a 26D and a 26S MERCURY CENT.

  3. Gary, I think the lesson here is: Don't bid when loopy on meds :) It's blatantly obvious that you would be getting a 26 d CENT and a S mint Dime.

The seller provided exactly what they said they would...

LOL. Yeah, I guess that's it ! What a scam. The Merc is a 1945 S VG-F, maybe VF even. Tossed it in the Silver box. Darn ! I absolutely HATE to leave less than 4 star feedback. But I think I should downgrade the description for this one ?

I noticed you didn't actually post the link to the closed auction... Couldn't you have just bought a 26-D and a 26-S outright and have been done with it?

HAHA I bet the return policy would change if you informed them of the 1914 D lol. Forget the feedback and get your money back. If someone does something intentionally wrong to you(already happened) are you going to stand there on ceremony? gotta keep fighting.

Since I bought that dumb roll, you certainly don't expect me to be smart enough to figure out how to post the link ? I tried and couldn't figure it out, so I copied and pasted the title and then the description. Well, since I didn't get the Mercs, I guess I will be buying them individually now. LOL

I am dependent on others to get out of the house, so a roll to search is not a bad thing. It keeps me from racking up too many favors and it's way better than watching Judge Judy. But this was a disappointment.

For future reference, to insert any link that you'd like to share in a post, go to the website/page you'd like to share, and click in the address space of the page at the top of explorer/firefox; the whole link should highlight. Press and hold your CTRL key, and while still depressing CTRL, press and release your C key. Then release CTRL key. This will copy the link to your computer's memory (clipboard).

Next, within a post where you want to put the link, press and hold your CTRL key, and while still depressing CTRL, press and release your V key. Then release CTRL key. This will "paste" the link from your computer's memory into the post.

WoW ! Learned something New ! I never thought about copying the address bar of a web page. I been using right click and the drop down menu that doesn't necessairily do what you want.

    Thanks a heap !

You're welcome. That shortcut trick works anytime you wish to copy text. Just use the mouse to highlight the desired text, then follow the same procedure.

I have used the shortcut keys to copy items from web pages into spreadsheets, but it never entered my mind to copy from the address bar. That is so cool. I never used computer myself before retirement and everything is a "learn as you go" experience. Of course, without background, mundane tasks are often monumental. This will add significantly to my ability to bug the heck out of people. LOL

    Thanks,

Gary....it appears to me that the seller listed one thing, and mailed another....and that's bad for business.
If you really don't want to leave 'bad' feedback for him, is there an e-bay option to stick a screwdriver in his neck?
All seriousness aside...I'd leave a definate "caveat emptor" on his page.... (Then I would stay away from "unsearched" rolls).

Yeah, this girl burned me all right. The rolls might be OK if the seller is willing to take it back. Goodness knows you can't find the coins in bank rolls. But like I said, I wanted a 26 S Dime. LOL One must admit that a well placed dash or period changes the meaning and can be excused as a "typo". A Cheap lesson. I make the mistake of thinking everyone is going to treat me as I would them. Man, I ain't gonna sell my word cheaply.

    How you doin' lately ?

I hate to say it man, but I don't think the ad was misleading in the least... I think the practice of calling a roll of pennies unsearched is a little shady but is fairly standard in the ebay world currently... If you had looked at what the same seller was selling in other auctions, you would have seen the pattern of listing the unsearched roll along with what is SHOWING on each end... If it had said unsearched roll 26-d/31-p you would assume he was talking two cents on the ends with these dates and mint marks... Since one was a dime, he left the 26-d as UNDERSTOOD, and specifically pointed out that the other was an s-mint Merc... Also, if he had said 26-d and 26-s merc dimes, it wouldn't make sense as he couldn't have known date and mint mark without opening the roll... I understand that you thought the dimes would have been EXTRA and loose but that is not a very typical way to see coins sold on ebay... a roll of wheat with 2 loose mercs to go with it... Again, the pattern of his other roll sales should have been the giveaway... I get so tired of guys stacking rolls with decent coins though and then swearing that they are UNSEARCHED...

For that matter, how in the heck can they even say they are WHEAT pennies, if they are capped on the ends with merc's and ih's and fe's... These guys have no scruples to be sure, but I don't think he intended to insinuate that you were getting 52 coins, or 2 mercs... I say you suck it up, leave him decent feedback, and move on...

    Regards,
    B

Sounds good. I might just do that ? Or maybe nothing at all ?

Yeah, leaving NO feedback is probably a good option... If you don't feel good about the sale, but feel like maybe you weren't as careful in your decision-making as you should have been, then that is probably the better thing to do than to leave GOOD feedback... I don't think these guys deserve it... I mean, if I bought one of these 'estates' that these guys apparently find every single week, and found a bunch of rolls with ih's, fe's, and merc's on the ends, there is no way in the world that I leave those rolls unopened... They would be open before I got back in my truck... In fact, even if I were trying to make money by reselling them, I would much rather open them and pull out all the 'gems' these guys claim others have found, and sell them solo... In that sense, it is certainly a scam and does not deserve good feedback...

Why even debate about leaving good feedback? Leave none, and chances are, the seller won't leave any. Plus, if one leaves good feedback, and decides later to dispute the transaction, it will bite you in the a**.
