"1 UNSEARCHED ROLL OF WHEAT CENTS- 1926-D & S-MINT MERC" was the item I bought. There was no 1926 D Merc. It was a Cent ?

I got the junk roll, but I needed the dime, LOL The other dime was a 45 S. I was a tad disappointed, but did I read it wrong ? I copied the exact title and here is the description
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]YOU ARE BIDDING ON ONE FULL ROLL OF UNSEARCHED WHEAT CENTS.
    1926-D AND S-MINT MERCURY DIME
THIS IS A STOCK PICTURE, THANKS FOR LOOKING AND BIDDING.
Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
    SHIPPING WILL BE $2.00

I feel there should have been a 1926 D & S Mercury Dime ? I know, I know. But is this fair trading ? What do you guys say ?

I say the seller is just like most other idiots on FleaBay. He doesn't have a clue about sentence structure.

I hate to think it might have been intentionally deceptive. But I did believe I was bidding on a roll of Wheats and a 1926 D & S Merc. That's 52 coins.

That obviously wasn't what the seller intended, but I would never leave a bad feedback. I will leave a positive feedback if I was mistaken though. I just need some neutral input.

I will toss the cents in a junk box and the 1945 S Merc into the silver box rather than deal with it. But I don't feel good with this trade at all. And the whole purpose of this hobby is something to occupy time in a pleasurable way. This negativity of this is kind of toxic.

My neutral input is that frankly Gary, I'm surprised that you made this purchase at all..

After a while, there are certain auctions on eBay you just skip right over...one of them are rolls of pennies with something other than pennies in them...(unless of course it a roll of unsearch wheaties with an Unc "CC" morgan dollar on either end). :D

I to am surprised that you purchased that.
With that said from what you "copied" there should have been a roll of wheats and 2 merc's that you were looking for.
I do not think it was intentional espically seeing that a 26s is not a big ticket item.
But the seller should put it much better then that.
I would contact him and see if he would mail the 26s you were looking for at least.

I agree that much of the problem is people not writing in clear, complete sentences, but I think you had a right to expect a roll of wheat pennies with a 1926 D and 1926 S dime on the ends. For whatever reason, I see a lot of rolls of pennies on eBay with some other coin on the ends, so this isn't unusual. You didn't receive what the seller promised, so you have every right to contact him. Hopefully he'll try to make it right. If not, leave negative feedback. That's what feedback is for and if you don't, other buyers will think this is a trustworthy seller when he isn't and get ripped off.

Duke is right, communicate with the seller and see if you can work it out.

I would not try to use feedback as a blackmail tool, or any other "trick". I'd just be honest and upfront and see if they will make you a happy customer. That will at least let you know what type of business person you are dealing with and if you ever want to deal with them again.

Worst case, you get nothing, best case, you get the coin you want.

Excuse me if I missed something, but did you contact him and ask him about the dime. If you didn't get the dime and that is what his ad said then he has mis-represented his item which is a big no no. I would write to him and tell him I was expecting the dime and I don't know how to handle his feedback then see what he says. It may just be a mistake and it may be worse but I would think you at least want to give the guy a chance to clean it up.

I guess I am the only 1 so far who would have automatically understood what the seller was advertising.
Basically it will be a roll of wheat cents with a 1926-D showing at 1 end and the reverse of an "s" mint marked merc dime at the other end. Not very complicated.

I still can't figure out how anyone would even think about purchasing anything with the words UNSEARCHED tagged to that item. Saying UNSEARCHED roll and then discribing what they are?
THINK! Sort of like saying I have 3 dimes in my pocket, never looked at before by anyone, all are in MS grades and all are 1945S dates. How would I know unless I looked? Searched means to look you know. If he knew they were all Wheat Cents, how would he know unless he did look or does looking at a coin NOT mean to search? The roll would have to have been opened, looked at each coin on both sides coin to make that statement.
Still it did sound like your were going to get a 26D and S Mercury Dime too.
This is just ebay you know.

You aren't the only one. The description was poorly and unclearly written but I also figured he meant a roll of wheats with a 26 D cent and a mercury dime struck in San Francisco. It would have helped to be sure that was what he meant if I could have seen the auction and the pictures, although the use of a stock picture may have complicated the problem.

People sort rolls and place IHC/FE and Dimes in Wheat cent rolls to make people think that there will be more of the 'good stuff' to drive the price. when the IHC's are normally culls. as with the 48 other wheats you will receive

That goes without saying, but these things always have a bunch of bidders and always go for higher prices than what you'd expect.

    I'm with you

I would have assumed that I was getting a wheat roll with a 1926D on one end and an "S" mint merc on the other.

You know, when the pain meds are kickin', I do a lot of really stupid things. LOL I really thought I was bidding on a 26 D Merc. I need one to fill a hole. So I've got a dozen or so Cent folders. Rather than go through another bag of cents, I started stuffing a few of these in them. That's when I saw a 1946 S that was already in a book that looked funky. I think it is inverted ? So, I may not have seen that for a long time if I hadn't got this junk roll. Karma ? And the 1945 S Merc doesn't look quite right either. I am going to get those I have in flips and see if it matches anything I've got. Hopefully, it won't.

Hey, I guess it's all good. Anyone who is desperate enough to resort to ploys to sell some coins, needs all the help they can get. IMHO

You are quite right of course. Especially when no returns are accepted was in the listing. LOL I am tempted to email them thanking them for the 1914 D that was in the roll. LOL

When the roll arrived, it was marked in ink with an arrow pointing to the end saying "26 D", which was a Cent and an arrow pointing to the other end saying "S Merc". So the seller knew what was going down. It was deliberatly deceptive or they would not have marked the roll in that manner I think.

I have saved that seller though, with a personal note. LOL Kinda sad, in a way.
