Is us collecting for future down tubes

    This comment is exactly what my thoughts are on collecting in future and thats what I feel is coming for us collectors and future collectors

    actually, i hope it aint to fare off topic, but a few of the machines at the rivers casino here, have places for credit cards. they are taped over and not in use. but i do suspect, very soon they will be in operation. if you think about it it makes sense for them. someone runs out of cash but wants to keep there machine, thinking its going to hit or whatever. this way they don't have to get up and take a chance of loosing the machine. it also guarantees longer playing times for the casino, less time people are walking around!

    i really hope they don't start card type money anytime soon, i could see it being a nightmare with glitches at the beginning.

    The way people go nuts on this forum over the new pennies, someone will collect whatever the mint issues.

    Exactly ! But I think the point is that once coins are minted only for collectors and not placed into general circulation, that very few new numismatists will come into the scene. Once the thrill of the hunt is removed I think the attraction will disappear for most people. When you limit the number of collectors, you weaken the market. People don't tend to start collecting the unobtainable on a widespread basis. IMHO

    It has been happening for years as some enjoy collecting clad coinage.
