So today at the dealer today and came out with this 31-s. Kinda wanted it but was a little hesitant since i was talking to RLM about a 31-s through HA that he felt that I could win. Price I paid was $135.00 & wasn't charged tax on this. If I was it would have been another $10.47 (many thanks goes out to RLM for taking time out of his day to answer a lot of questions that I ask) I believe this could be graded in an MS63. The reason I purchased this raw instead of waiting a couple more days through HA.com is that, A. I felt this was same grade as the one I would be bidding on and B. saved on Shipping, CC fees, and buyout costs. On the Obverse side of the coin: Please ignore the horizontal lines as it is the plastic cover on my Dansco Album. Also that is not a stratch/nick on the Lincoln's right shoulder. I need to mention that this picture may not show a few mintor nicks in Lincoln's Cheek. On the Reverse side, please ignore the white haze going across the word "ONE", what looks like a little hair on the left wheat stalk and that fuzzy thing on the right wheat stalk. please give your opinion. Mucho Gracios!!
Assuming the beige blobs are album lint (I am pretty sure they are), I see no reason that would not get a 63 - finger print and all.
I was all set to say 64 - then I saw this. They might give it a pass seeing as it's a '31-S, but I doubt it. Afraid this one will get the Genuine or Details holder. Look at the rectangle.
That's a beauty. I'm a bit of a novice grader, but I'd say that's MS-63 all day long and for 135 I'd say u got a good deal! Bet it looks gorgeous in hand. Great coin, thanks for sharing!
That can't be you. If it were not for that rectangle, you would have had the HIGHEST grade of all 5 so far. It is impossible that you are GDJMSP!
Man oh man I like this cent. The rim's are clean. But there is wear on the flat spots on both sides. I would nerver have spotted what GD found also. On the reverse the wheat stalks are superb. But I have to say AU-50 or MS-60. I hope you get MS-63, though. zeke
I have no intentions of getting it graded, I needed it for my collection and finally found one. I seriously looked at this hard and long and debated about getting this. I probably looked at this through my loupe for a good 5 minutes and then bargined with the dealer when we both came upon a mutual agreement. And GD, I have no clue how you noticed that, that is some good eye you have there. I think you somehow placed that retangle on my cent. Thanks everyone for your comments! -shrek
This is sort of spooky , but I bought my very 1st coin from a dealer today & it also was a 1931-S Lincoln Wheat Cent ! I had only 5 holes left to fill in my Dansco Wheat collection , so I figured I wasn't going to find them in pocket change. I did not pay nearly as much as you did for yours , but I would have if he had a coin as nice in stock. The wheat stalks on your coin still have luster showing through !
I think if you ever change your mind and get it TPG'd who won't be sorry. But for now, you'll never know. So don't let it bug you ....................like it's bugging me. AAAaaarrrrg! Thanks
