I agree with Aidan but since I'm here and see that this old thread has been dug up - MOST star notes are NOT rare while other ARE rare.

It's like coins but made out of paper. As with coins there are many books about currency.

If you want to know what's rare spend a few bucks and educate yourself. I can recommend a few good books.

The Pick catalogues tell you about star notes, but they don't price them separately though.I reckon that they should though.

Welcome to CoinTalk Rollinmints! Stars are fun to find but like most things in circulation most of them are only worth face value. See this link to look at the number of Stars printed. http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/5.php#2001 Your note is one of a large group of three runs. You can get a premium when the run size is very small, condition is very good if not uncirculated, and older is better. Keep looking because you never know what you will find! :D

Thanks for the link Darryl. I come across a lot of stars and usually just put them back in circulation.

Newbie here- near my fav coin shop is a CVS (drugstore) that has my banks ATM.
I HAVE A BLAST GOING THERE! More times than not, I'll take out 300.00 or so. They spit out in $20.00's, usually in order, crisp & many star notes as well! When I get junk I just go to the bank across the street, re deposit them. And it's off to the ATM again! Like playing slots! When I'm ready, the other corner is the coin shop. Real fun-try it! (PS-just learning abt currency).

i do something similar with a pepsi machine. i put money in and then hit the return and it sends out different quarters. i got some silver out of it!

they probably look at me like i am crazy and probably think you are rich!
