set and the $2 note is a star note. Do you think that will help its value? The nickel is toning, which after doing some research is pretty typical, so I doubt that will hurt or help it, but the star note is what piqued my interest. It doesn't hurt that I think the modern commemoratives are cool as well.

I too, got interested in this commem issue earlier this year and bought one with a star note. The nickels are almost always toned and that will be a determining factor of their worth in later years, depending how the toning looks. You may want to remove the coin from the holder that is causing the early toning. The star note does bring a little premium to this set as there are fewer sets with star notes than regular ones. Many of the nickels have full steps which may add to their value, too.

Most of the coin get toning on the reverse side. I have a nickel with great purple toning and blast white on the obverse. The value of this set as went down in the last 3 years. I picked up 6 sets from a dealer for $200. I wouldn't even been able to buy 3 sets for that price 2 years ago. Most of the sets do not have star notes so that is a added little perk.

NGC doesn't put FS on the label of specimen coins.
PCGS put SMS on the label but sometimes they use MS or SP.
They also put FS on the label.

Almost all of the coins have Full Steps and will grade MS68 or higher.
