first off, i can not get any pictures because they are at my dealers. second i normally don't buy coins graded, but these two coins i really want. the first is a 1938-D walker halve. its graded and in vf-30. i realize that is not a good grade, but i wanted a semi key for my first halve. because i will have less a chance of finding one, when i find a source for rolled halves. its graded by anacs, and he wants $100 for it. is that a decent price for that coin? the second, is a 1938 buffalo graded by anacs in ms-63 but... the reason i want it is the tone. this thing is solid gold, i at first thought it was dipped in gold, thats how toned it is. he has two in the same grade, and said they were left in a mint roll and toned that way. i didn't get a chance to ask the price, but does anyone have any idea what is a fair price? i know it may vary and with the toning will jack the price a bit. but just a ball park? i will ask what he wants tomorrow. thanks for the help in advance!
The 38D Walker is graded by whom? If PCGS or NGC then that sounds fine as long as it looks good for the grade to you. The 38 Buffalo (D I assume) is very common even in high grades. At a MS63 it's worth 26 bucks and in MS64 it's worth 28 bucks and MS 65 55 bucks. As far as that coin goes I'd get a very high graded one that is a real looker. Now if you like the toning and that is the reason to buy it then go for it. I can't tell you what to do without a picture on eye appeal. That's my opinion. Hope it helps.
thanks for the help. the walker is either graded by pcgs, ngc or anacs. this is embarrassing that i don't remember. there was just so much to look at, i was to excited. i do know its one of the legit ones though. he has a sign up, that says he will only buy graded coins from them companies. i am going to pick up the walker today. i doubt i buy the buffalo he will probably want to much. the way he was talking them up, made it sound like he thinks there is only a few out there like that. it is a beautiful coin though.
