Half-Dollar 1946D : MD?

    Hi,

    There is a problem on mint mark for sure but my question is about the E and U (E pluribus Unum). Is it a possible MD on these letters... Double E and U as you can see on the picture?

    Maybe it is a visual effect but i'm not sure :)

    Looks more like die deterioration to me. The D seems to have a die crack running thru it. Might be something else though...

    Yup...It is die deterioration doubling. That's fancy for the coin was struck with a worn die. That is not unusual.
