I have spent a good deal of time researching these only to find out that they are not valuable. :/ Still, this is one of the coolest sets I own. I have seen individual coins but this is the only full set I've ever seen. They were given to me by my grandmother when my step-grandfather passed away several (6-7) years ago. I got these right after I began collecting. I am slowly working on taking a picture of all fifty of them. I just figured I'd let y'all see 'em now that I have my own camera. Enjoy! :smile I tried to post them straight to here but they wouldn't upload so here's a link to my photobucket page of them. http://s742.photobucket.com/albums/xx70/tylerpenland/ Thanks, Tyler
I've seen those before, and though they are pretty interesting, you're right, they really aren't worth much - they were/are just a novelty made more for souvenir collectors.
i have never seen one before the other day. got 1 in change. ohio, whin a champain glass on the othe side of lincolns head. sweet. i will start looking for more. thanks for sharing.
I wish I could find one in change! Only kind of stamped penny I've ever found (and my friend actually found it and gave it to me) is a 1962 in great condition with the Free Mason symbol. The weirdest thing about my state set though, is that all but two of them are 1976s. Washington and West Virginia are both 1975's. I guess they ran out of 76's towards the end of "mintage". And Pennylady: It took me FOREVER to figure out what they were and when I did they ended up being worth $10-15. Still not bad for 50 cents.
Tyler, I love counterstamped souvenir coins, and the one cent coins have lots of easy ones to come by since no one values them much. There was a contest here recently and I won two of them, Maryland and Arizona. There are also a number of threads on Masonic counterstamped coins here on CT if you dig around in the search a bit. Ken, you have at least seen these two...
They may not be worth much money-wise, but thats still a neat set of cents. I mean, how many people can possibly have a complete set, seeing as most of us here have never seen one? Theres a lot of value there that has nothing to do with dollar signs. Guy~
Those were discussed somewhere in the past and it was noted they were made into a completed set for sale. I think there was some sort of Album that opened up with them or a hanging sort of thing. Not worth a lot as a coin for Numismatic purposes but as a novelty, might become valuable in time if not still being produced.
I made thousands of stamped cents when I was in high school. I was bored in shop class one day so we started punching pocket change with random letters. At one point I had the entire alphabet in an album. I wonder sometimes if any ended up in folks collections. They are all pre 1982.
Very cool!!! Posting the pic is very easy. Put your curser over the pic on photobucket, then copy the image code (the fourth one down), then post that here. I'll do it for you on one of them. However, you ought to edit the pic in photobucket so it is verticle.
It is defininately my favorite set. I dont collect for monetary value anyways. There is a good bit of history involved there i'm sure (and they came from my grandma anyways). And bob, I'm working on learning Photobucket so I'll do that as soon as I can. Thanks, Tyler
We just got a full set for my 7 yr old daughter to start her collection I thought they were so cool..they are in a frame each near a picture of a stamp for that state with their bird and flower..if not anything else she will learn from it
5 year old thread? Most folks 'round hear would frown on the resurrection. Normally me too. Not so here.......Welcome to the forum Mrsmellow30.
