Define "Looking at your collection". I look at my coins on a daily basis, but usually only the ones that I am working on that particular night. For instance, I may be doing some research on Ikes one night or maybe that whole week, so that is all that I am looking at. I constantly go over my collection always looking to see if I missed anything. For instance... every now and then I will go through my Franklins to see if there are any varieties. I have my Frankies separated into several groups. While looking through one of the groups, I thought I found two Type II reverses but what I actually had was two FS801 DDRs!!! Just sent them both into NGC for grading. A month ago, I didn't know that variety existed, but with a little reading every night, I learn a little bit more. I would say that over the course of a year, I might make it through my entire collection.
I just got all my silver coins and error coins in 2X2's this past week. All the coins I buy are usually in airtites or 2X2's already. I metal detect and go to seeded hunts and competions and have done pretty good most of the prize coins were in plastic flips and after getting them all in 2X2's and airtites for the morgans and peace dollars I sat down and really enjoyed looking at them. I am definetly going to do it more often. I didn't realize my collection had gotten so big. Now to get all the forgein coins I collected or traded for in my Navy days into some kind of holder. Tim
I generally have a dozen coins on my desk -newps, coins I am writing about, etc. I look at them several times a day. I also have coins displayed in many rooms of my apartment (bedroom, living room, dining room), so I look at those quite often. Stuff in boxes I'll pull out once or twice a week, more often if I have time.
I put several times per week. I'm only usually home a few days a week so thats when I look at it. I don't pull it all out of the safes, but will look at pieces of it...whatever is interesting me that day. Guy~
i look at mine almost daily. there are just some days when work/life get in the way and i'm not able to look at them.
I don't so much look at my collection. I like to sit on my throne and run my hands through the piles of gold and silver that are heaped on each side of me, letting the coins trickle through my fingers as I giggle like an idiot Or I lie on my king-sized bed and toss handfuls of bills into the air and let them flutter down on me as I giggle like an idiot (Actually, I'm kidding....I don't have a throne or a king-sized bed.)
While all the good coins live in a safety deposit box, I have almost all of my collection photographed and find myself looking at them almost every day.
I collect silver bullion and keep it in my gun safe, so every morning when I get ready for work I pick up my little felt baggy of silver and enjoy the weight before strapping my side arm into my holster. Always gives me a good start to my day.
We were house-sitting for the minor gentry not long ago, and they had this huge kitchen table. As soon as I saw it I thought "ooh, dates down the long dimension, denominations on the short..." It's not often I get to see the whole collection in one go....here it is...
Prolly just because I'm new and constantly finding new things to add, but I look at my collection every day. Sometimes multiple times. And I learn something new everyday as well... Which always makes me want to go look again
All the time..... I just found a die crack on a coin I have had for almost a year last night. Its in an odd place so I never caught it
Well I just went through my whole collection in the last day or so - I'm getting ready to sell a bunch of it. Most of the time though, I may look at parts of it every few days/weeks, but the whole thing...maybe a few times a year. Speedy
