Nice teller gave me this!



All right you guys. It finally worked. So I go into my favorite bank, and ask for half dollars. So, the teller goes into her drawer and pulls out a stack of them, pulls a specific one out, hands it to me, and says "This is the one you want". I could see it was silver by the edge, but I didn't realize it was a Franklin until I looked at it! My first Franklin Half of the year! That teller made my day! Thanks for the info on uploading photos. - coincrazed

So did the teller still give you the other halves? Like does she know you're "silver" searching, or does she think you're "old" coin searching?

Regardless, that's great that you now have someone on the inside keeping an eye out for uncommon looking coins.

Nice! I haven't found a franklin yet (no complaining though, found a walker!) I need to start getting a good relationship with some tellers. I've only gotten halves from two banks so far, need to take in some cookies

 

There's nothing like an older women; they'll shake all of your apples out of your tree.

 

Dude, EVERYONE in that bank knows I'm a Coin Roll Hunter. It used to be just the vault teller, but since I bought 2 tins of cookies for all the tellers and a Whitman's sampler for the vault teller last Christmas, EVERYONE is keeping their eye out for old coins and silver. They even have my phone number taped in the vault so if they get any half dollars or dream finds in, they'll call me immediately. Even the manager knows me and gives me a big smile when I come in. That bank has been very faithful to me, and even though they have given me crap a few times, they are very good to me, especially the vault teller. Yes, I did check the other halves, and there was nothing else. Obviously, that teller knew what to look for, as I have taught just about everyone in there to master spotting silver coins. Con pewter: DEFINITELY take that bank something. They WON'T forget you, espcially the lady tellers. Good luck! - coincrazed

GREAT story, and just goes to show that if you are nice to people they will usually be nice to you.

Once in awhile bring the bank tellers a batch of fresh baked cookies. If you (or your mom) bakes them they won't cost much and they will pay dividends.

 

bribes work also know that tellers hate halves and things like that because they are generally in the way. Also the younger the tellers generally don't look for silver in my experiences.

 

I've always been a little afraid to go to a bank and ask for something specific for one reason. I always feel that I'll look like an idiot when they say no. lol
I'm not shy in anything except for being at a bank (I'd be a terrible bank robber)

Anyway nice find! Always nice to get some silver like that!

 

i sorta feel nervous in the bank, like if i say something the wrong way they will hit the panic button.
