Been wanting one of these for a lonnngggg time. Everyone draped bust quarter I had seen just didn’t have the right look. The over date is so obvious to the eye. These are sellers photos. I now have to be patient and wait for it to arrive. Anyone want to show off their draped bust quarters

Nice overdate. Yours is the B-1 die marriage, R-2. The obverse was repunched from the 1805 B-4. The reverse was used for the 1805 B-4 and also the 1807 B-1. Both obverse and reverse look like Early Die State as I can see no clashes or die cracks.

    My sole Draped Bust Quarter.

Here are 3 Draped Bust quarters that I am lucky enough to have acquired over the years, all low grade / issues - 1805, 1806 and 1807. I really like Draped Bust coins and wish I had more of a budget sometimes in that regard. It's amazing to consider the history of these pieces - in 1806, for example, Thomas Jefferson was President and the Lewis & Clark expedition reached the Pacific Ocean. Noah Webster published the first American English dictionary. Interesting times and early days for the USA.

The 1805 is a neat coin - 121,394 minted, and this one set me back $160 according to my records. The back is pretty worn, but the obverse is decent. Here are some slightly better photos.

I would have let it set me back t that far too. I'm working on lowball sets for early coins. Fr02 and po01. I prefer the worn look at this level.

That is quite a nice Draped Bust Quarter.
Congratulations on the milestone and your new acquisition!

A long time ago I was like you, really wanting to have one of these. My first example owas a little more modest than yours (a low grade 1807 with a hole).

I have owned this one for many years. It is an 1807 Browning 2. It is a early die state, which, from what I understand is quite rare. I had a specialist collector who asked me to trade it for in "Mint State," but I didn't like his coin as a Mint State piece despite what it said on the slab.

This one came from the late Catherine Bullowa. She thought that it was in the Brand Collection at one time. The reverse has some P-L surfaces in the stars around the eagle's head. It's in an NGC AU-55 holder.

My second one is an 1796 Quarter. I've owned this one for a long time too. It came from the Worthy Coin Company bid wall which was once in Boston. Believe it or not, there were two 1796 quarters on the same bid wall! This is the lower grade one. I couldn't afford the other one which was or close to EF. This one is PCGS graded VF-25.

Some killer stuff especially Edouards 04 and 05. And of course the 1796. I’ve had a couple I’ve sold. But I’ve yet to find a draped bust quarter with the look I want for myself. I almost bought a 1796 years ago but decided against it. It was a problem coin but not a horrible one. A f details that had an old cleaning but decided to not spend the money on it.
