1881 O Morgan. Cleaned or just a slider?

    That line inside the stars on the field makes me think cleaned. What do you think?

    I'm just guessing it look better in hand. Flash photographs tend to bring out surface flaws and hairlines that don't look as bad in hand. I agree though about the cleaning.

    I see things that make me reasonably certain the coin has been harshly cleaned - but the line you mention isn't one of them.

    The most obvious to me, and I never how to describe this except to say that the coin looks like it is covered in snow, are all the very fine and little tic marks all over the coin.

    I think that's the look I used to get back in the day when it was okay to scrub the coin with baking soda.

    Take a look at the date of that post. Silver was a LOT cheaper over a year ago.
