Workin on the photography skills.

Hi all. I have been working on my coin photography skills some more today and here are the results. Comments, suggestions, and thoughts on grading appreciated.

The software allows you "circular" crop.....

 

They look pretty good to me. Do you have a photo software to crop, enlarge or tweak photos?

lookin pretty good. something that really helped me,(I am by no means an expert) was that I bought one of those little tripods for 10 bucks at fryes it keeps the camera very still..also I downloaded a free photo editing software called photoscape you can do some really cool stuff with it, like cropping out the background

 

Sure i have editing software. I just thought that tweaking the photos does not show the coin as seen by the eye. Here check this out

 

Is that what you used to lay out the obverse and reverse like that?

yes. first you have to crop the pics individually then in the filter list there is a reflection tab..I also put the grade and date sometimes

thank you...I got a lot of great information from this site....there are quite a few really great coin photographers on here...I take pictures of all my new coins..getting the lighting right is something I have a really hard time with...another great thing about editing software I can make up for some mediocre photography skills.

Please describe your lighting setup.

I think there's some improvement left there....

 

p.s. it also appears your photos have a bit of a color cast problem -- on the yellow (warm) side.

 

I noticed that too.

 

60 watt incandescent diffused at 2:00 and 20 watt halogen at 10:00 position.
Cam is on a tripod directly over the coins.

 

I use Reveals, and a copy stand. Tripods for me don't work, because it's never the same mount.

 

Is that from the lights? Or the camera settings?
