Well, after thinking about this, I think I am going to start collecting in the Fine-12 grade and above. Since I AM planning on going into Numismatics as a profession, I think I should have 10 or 15 nice key date coins in higher grades than 30 key dates in low grades. In my opinion, I think I should buy 4 or 5 nice key date coins in Fine-12 condition, and save up to buy a 1916D Mercury Dime in Fine as well. I'm thinking about buying a 1921 and a 1921D Mercury Dime both in Fine-12. Or, I could not buy ANYTHING right now, and start saving for a Fine-12 1916D now! What do you guys think think I should do? - coincrazed

How bout you buy a couple mid grade 1921 and 1921-D's. It spreads out your liability, and you can take advantage (to a lesser extent) the price increases that accompany a key or semi-key date coin. I have seen some nice VF's out there for 3 or 4 hundo.
