Well, no one has taken the plunge on the first bid yet. So either it's too high, or people know it is not legit, or they're like me and wouldn't know a copy from a genuine example.

The user sent a message back to me, saying he is going to take it to a dealer to get "authenticated".

Huh? To find out what, that it's an authentic fake?

Anyways, he said he will pull the auction if indeed it is determined to be fake... whatever that means.

    yeah, and your point?

    That's is what I said.

At least I thought so, on the $102.

Sorry I was off by .99

Nevermind... nothing to do with the 102. or .99. Missed that part of what you wrote... I'm working off of 3 hours sleep. :goofer:

On that first sale I thought it was a little odd that the seller first said that it was passed down in their family, then they say they are selling it for someone who told them it was passed down in the other persons family. Maybe they just got flustered?

The first seller yanked the auction, and thanked me for making him aware of it.

The second seller did not yank the auction, and wrote back the following:
THANKS FOR THE FYI I WAS NOT SURE ON THIS AS WELL AND REVISED DESCRIPTION
WAS FOUND DURING RENOVATION BEHIND BASE BOARD IN OLD VICTORIAN STYLE HOME
    THANKS

He modified his description and his 'caveat emptor' statement is written deep into the description. Here is the link once again:

The second seller proceeded with the auction, even though they were advised that the specimen was fake.
The seller's nick and profile is the following: SMLCTL333 - http://myworld.ebay.com/smlctl333/

FYI, the first seller did not yank the auction. eBay did. If the seller puller it, your link would still show the listing for 90 days. When eBay pulls it, you get "This listing (180512479253) has been removed, or this item is not available."

Thanks for clarifying. I guess although the seller said they pulled it, ebay beat them to the punch!

I suppose it is possible they both pulled it. However, once eBay pulls it, there is no way to determine what happened previously unless you happened to see it.
