Eagles are absolutely flying off the coin presses...

 

It would be great to know who are eventually buying all these Eagles. Are these consumers spread out across the country/globe or aggregated in certain locations? Are there major players buying and holding? These numbers (2009, 2010 so far) seem so unprecedented. TC

 

Probably "all of the above" as the examples you gave. Yes, these numbers are quite high and do point to the "demand" the Mint continues to claim prevents them from Minting collector versions... sadly.

 

Collectors are consumers too......

yes. the mintage keep going down. people collecting those statehood and territorial were being trick by the mint. so as other denominations. like the presidential dollar. for gold such as first spouses. and so on.

 

This is why I always caution not to play the mintage game based on figures being released quarterly from the Mint sales figures.

If you are going to buy from the Mint, buy for your collection not because you perceived some (low) mintage figure that might be a good investment or for some other reason, they continue to correct mintage figures for a few years after they cease selling the product. Red Books and other such published price guides never reflect final mintages for a few years after the latest coins are issued. They are at best 'estimates' until quite some time has passed.

With that said... this week, 5/27/2010 the 2010 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ (SV2) goes on sale at noon. The sets will be selling for $32.95 each. The 5 - 90% silver coins at $18.05/oz. (current) silver spot = $16.32 approx. Wow, quite a mark up!!!!

 

I've got a confirmation on my subscription. It's backordered to June 9th.....

 

I wish the subscription program could deliver on the date the coins go on sale to the general public. I think they'd sell product like hotcakes if they could manage those logistics for collectors who subscribe.

It agree but it looks like things have been sorted out for the Hot Springs (Arkansas) quarter. If you take a look at Elaine's second to last mintage numbers for Hot Springs (Arkansas) on Post #1682 and subtract out her current numbers for Yellowstone (Wyoming) Post #1752, you get her new updated current numbers for Hot Springs (Arkansas). For example, P: 42,000,000-11,400,000=30,600,000 and D: 35,4000,000-6,400,000=29,000,000. I am assuming that they will not produce any more of the Hot Springs (Arkansas) quarters. This quarter now has the lowest mintage for a circulating quarter since the 1950's. Not a rarity of course, but I am sure high grade examples will be sought after by collectors. TC

 

I may just wait and get them in the annual silver proof set. I am tempted to put together a separate silver AtB quarter set, but that mark-up is high! TC
