    Thank You ikandiggit !

I read & checked out the photos and I can see clearly the flat shelf under the doubling under the date & MM on my 1970-S but I have not been able to locate a photo anywhere that provides an explanation for the tripling on the date. I am still searching.

Yeah, can't complain about that box. It seems that you hit certain "hot" boxes that are mother lodes, and others that are diddly.

I have 4 more boxes coming Thursday. Trying to figure out the best way to dump the ones I have. I feel that if I return them to my second bank, they will frown upon my bringing them nearly $2000 worth of coins that are simply not used in circulation anymore. I hate getting them upset, or worse, if they refuse to take them. Can they refuse them?

    Searched a box today

    11-40%, 2006 S, 1971 S and 2003 S

I had a few skunks in a row, last week had 1 40 in a box and this week 11 40s. I'm thinking next week I'm going to order more boxes but I might have to open an account at a different bank. The one I've been dumping at requires me to roll them but they told me they unroll them and ship them down the street to be put in the machine. If I can find a dump bank that just puts them through the machine to count them I'll start ordering 4-6 a week and dumping them in one shot.

dr4g0n3 do you like searching threw pennies? I've been mostly searching threw halves but I have searched threw some dimes recently today I picked up a box of dimes and haven't found anything good yet. I am thinking about getting a box of pennies because I think it would be fun.

yeah pennies are cheap, a much larger selection to go through and kills much more time.

I started with just $10 in pennies and then saved some extra cash and moved onto to nickels also.

I notice that I get a wheatie out of about every 300 pennies.
I also go to a bank where they get their pennies from another company and dont roll them themselves.

I agree. I went threw one box of pennies since I started roll searching about a month back and I found about 10 wheat pennies in the whole box. Today I went to subway for lunch and in there tip jar was a 1947 wheat cent. I asked the cashier if I could have it and he said sure. I wouldn't usually ask but they know me so they don't care. That was my only find for today :)

well the local bank I go to is super friendly with me, they are intrested in the coins I find and are willing to give me a call if they find anything old (such as a 58 wheatie they found today) I guess it pays to be friends with over half of that branch staff, including all three managers.

I wish I could find a bank like that. At my main bank they are all friendly and know me but they don't go out of their way to call me when they find things even though I ask them to call me if they get any half dollars or see anything interesting. How long have you been going to the same bank for?

    shoot for 7-8 years
one manager is a old highschool friend (more of a friend to my little brother)
the other manager is a friend of my older brother and dad and we talk all the time.

the other manager I just met and he is intrested and wants his wife to get into it now (as she sits at home all day)

ive got another bank that I dont even belong to that looks for me
(the asst manager is a good friend, drinking buddy, and church goer. then one of the tellers I went to school all the way through kindergarden)

my main credit union on the other hand wont left a finger to help me out.

I don't believe that this old silver dollar still available in BANKS ROLL?
How did you get it? Did you ask the TELLER for a ROLL of an OLD DOLLAR not the NEW DOLLAR COINS roll...

Kids ... You gotta love 'em :)

Nice find on the wheats. Since you bought $13.00 in cents , how did that come ? In rolls from a bank or in a bag ?

My girlfriend and I went around to a ton of different banks today picking up any half dollars they had. Once all the banks were closed we went home to open them. There was a total of $740 worth and out of all that there was no silver. We did find a 1987 D, 2006 P, and a 2007 P. Which all 3 of those we needed for our book so that was good.:)

I found over $800 in silver halves in a $1000 bag. I didn't tell the bank staff but I brought them all doughnuts yesterday. I wanted to "thank them" for ordering halves for me. They said they would call me if any "wierd" bills come in. I figure the cost of a box of doughnuts for over $4000 in melt value silver was worth it!

    Good family day hunting

Went to local coin show with my 2 kids. We went to this one before because they give away stuff to the kids.

My son picked up: 1918 Walker Half, 1941S Dime, 1990 Proof Set, 1972 Mint Set.

My Daughter picked up 1997 off center strike dime, 1962 BU Proof quarter, 1907 Liberty nickel, 1937D buffalo nickel, 1939D Jefferson nickel, 1934 quarter, 1942 dime, 1964 half, 1968 mint set.

All of those were free to the kids.

Then I found one of my tellers I had lost. It was a little drive but I contacted her at her new bank and she said she had a couple of rolls of halves for me. Was glad to see she found me 17 90% halves and 30 40%'ers.

Finally I picked up 2 boxes - One Brinks and one Strings but only found 1 1968, 1997S, and a 1921 Brittish Penny.

    Overall a fun day together.

    Erin
