Picked up a 1939 Washington quarter today out of the bar till! Not even good enough looking for one of my lame scan jobs. Really this quarter is as ugly as sin, but free is a very good price! I find some silver in the tills every couple of weeks but this is the oldest i have seen in some time.
i got two quarters change tonight with my Chinese food, and they both were 57's!! basically got my food for $2.50. this is only the second time i got silver quarters before.
Nice find, the soda machine at work gave me a 1953 roosie, I lost a bet with a guy and had to buy him a soda, and got the silver dime in change. It definitely has not been circulating for the last 57 years.
I went into the bank to get a roll of Kennedy halves. Well they didn't have a roll but scraped up $9 in halves. One of them is a 1941 Walker. Well Worn but definitely now a part of my collection. (I was actually hoping to get a 1964 Silver or the 65-70 silver clads)
A walker? very nice. I thought my 1906 IHC was a find, but it's hard to miss an old half. Most people nowadays think it's not a US coin if you try to spend them. If they know it's US that's as far as it gets.
The only time I've ever found silver was when looking through lots of change (either at work, with a cash register, or once I rolled my friends coins for him). And even then it's only been war nickels and 2 dimes.
From the Register where I used to work ... Series 1935C $5 Too many wheats to count 1906 Indian Head Cent nickels 1944P (2) 1944D Dimes 1946 1952S (2) 1953D 1956D 1957D 1964D (6) Quarters 1954S 1964D (3) Halves 1966 1967
I found a 2010P dime in circulation yesterday. It's the first new dime I"ve seen in over two years (not counting unc. and proof sets, which don't count).
