Unless I am mistaken last week one day I was on the Mint Web Site and saw that the 2005 Mint Unc set for $16.95 was no longer available. Again i visited the site on Friday and the mint is giving a future shipping date..... Does this mean you can still order more set or are they sold out. Remember this was the set that a limit of ten was put on until supplies were depleted. what's going on?????????? I saw the set going for over $30.00 on ebay, which led me to believe that the mint has run out.

    Thanks,

The mint said they ran out but now they "found" some so you can still order from the mint for $16.95.

I went all the way through the order form and did everything but click complete...and they said that it would mail on 12/1/05.

I too saw a page that said NOT AVAILABLE but the other few places still have them

The Mint is caught between a rock and a hard place due to the current legislation regarding the commemorative nickels. They don't want to over produce as current legislation requires them to HALT all sales of the commemorative nickels at the end of Dec. 31st. It doesn't just say to halt production it says HALT ALL SALES! They have asked Congress and the Sec. of Treasury for an extension to sell remaining stock into the 2006 year but until that is granted they must assume Dec. 31st is the last day to sell thus limiting what they can produce at this time. That brought on the 10 per family limit and if Congress doesn't remove the LAST DATE OF SALE production will halt pretty quickly. This is my understanding at this time. If anyone has anything else to add I would be glad to hear it. Seems the law has got in the way?

One thing I would like to point out...
It seems to me that the mint said that they were sold out last week...But this week they have more...many more.
So IMO my idea came true...the mint was holding back sets to "find" someday down the road and flood the market with even more of these sets.
Doesn't it make you guys tired of the mint?...doesn't it make you want to go back and collect older coins and not this new (if I may use the word that I think fits it) "junk"?
