    Ok,
this on going temper tantrum that you have had about the penny/cent thing is getting old. I am not sure if you need another bottler or your diaper changed. One of them is making you very cranky

with the exception to this post, i have decided to stop posting to any of M.B.T.'s threads or replies. it has become aparent to me that he gets off to this sort of stuff and every time we argue back it just puts a smile on his face but irritates us. this is the squeaky wheel that we keep greasing when we really need to get rid of it. how's that for a "PENNY" for my thoughts?

Henny Penny - should what? change their name? Should everyone named Penny change their name to Cent just because Penny irritates you? You obviously have an issue. Who cares if YOU feel this forum is boring. It just provides people possible answers to their questions about this "boring" hobby. Other forums obviously disagreed with you. Even the guy in charge of this forum had some words for you. Maybe you should collect something else or find another hobby. Something more exciting than coins. Lets see...
How about sweating dynamite? That would be very exciting.
You're old, you know what dynamite sweat is?

When I was a wee lad, my Grandfather took me to the "Penny Arcade" at the county fair...he did not take me to the "Cent Arcade"

A hand full of wheat cents went a long way in a Penny Arcade...you put a penny in and played a game.

    What's the big deal?

    Chris,
that is exactly how I feel and I think from similar posts, many others on the forum do as well. I dont understand someone who is so misserable all the time must make everyone else around them feel the same way.
If you dont like being here then just go somewere that will make you happier. Negativity is a very bad and un curable disease that spreads like wildfire if it is not stopped soon and the Op has a lot of it.

Personally I don't use "penny" for "cent", but I'll defend to the death the decision of my niece Penny (actually "Penelope") not to change her name to Cent (long form "Centelope"?).

Hey, let's stick to the rules:

2 – Personal attacks are not permitted. All Coin Talk members, young, old and in between, will treat all other members with respect and be civil at all times. You are expected to act as responsible individuals, there will be no name calling or flame wars.

I am a very sensitive, positive person, albeit somewhat cynical, and I have feelings too.I have been involved in numismatics for over 50 years, so I know that of which I speak. I firmly believe that calling a cent a penny is senseless, and I am entitled to my opinion.

OK - you've made your point. And yes, as numerous others including myself have told you - YES cent is the correct term. We all acknowledge that.

But 99 people out of a 100 will call the coin a penny. SO WHAT ?

Now drop it for God's sake or so help me I'll delete the next post you make on it. And all of those following.

this was not a personal attack but just my opinion that I feel as strongly about as you do regarding the penny/cent thing.
This will be my last post to you because it is just waisting energy.
Thanks Doug for finally putting and end to this nonsense

There is an overlooked forum feature called the "ignore list". Click "User CP" from the navigation bar near the top, scroll down the list of options on the left, and choose "Edit Ignore List". If, hypothetically, there were someone who never had useful answers or good questions, you can type in their user name (e.g. "insultingattentionseeker").

Overusing this feature, for example by plonking someone you merely disagreed with, would hurt the board. On the other hand, if there were someone who posts just to provoke others into reacting so that it all becomes about him, then automatically skipping his posts is just the thing.

Now I have a problem with redundancy. Now it's either Majortime or Bigtime, but NEVER Majorbigtime.

I just don't understand people who can't use the language properly.
