Think it is to much but what do I know. I would not pay what they are asking. Wait for some others to offer their opinions before you buy.

Find out what the US mint sold it for, just go to google and start entering info you will find what you need. Gold prices are fairly high on ebay, wait for a coin show in your area. Besides, why do you need to buy the whole set? I mean if you want it then that's up to you. Is it worth it? In a word, no!

sold for around $1200 in 2000. That was when gold was at $500 and ounce. Now it is clearing almost $1300. I want them because the fact that they are proofs. Thanky ou for you opinion. Also went to a coin shop and they had the same set for $3600. He had tons of gold and wasn't going to go any lower :'(

The seller want almost $3500 for gold worth $2300.

    I don't collect gold, but I wouldn't buy this.

IMHO, I think people selling gold are taking advantage of a fickle market. Gold is down to $1174.00 an ounce as of 2 seconds ago.

I dont really understand what is going on. This is the third thread you have started about this proof set. The first one was in the open forum for sale buy you for $3500. The second on was for the set on ebay listed at a buy it now for $3500 asking if it was a good deal and now this one asking is it a good deal.
So, are you trying to sell this set or are you looking to buy it. I am just confused since all your post since you joined have been about this set. Thanks for the info

Yeah, this is one strange post posted in conjunction with at least two other strange posts. The one that was posted in the OPEN forum was actually a question. Was the OP seriously in the market for this set? We may never know! :D

Yeah, I dont know if he is trying to sell one or if he is honestly in the market for one. Another of the worlds great mysteries.

He is trying to sell his set. His original posting in the open said he took it to a dealer that offered him $3200 and he was firm at $3500. He then started a couple threads to generate some interest. I don't blame him for trying to get some attention to get his set sold, but could have done it a bit more professionally?

Now I wonder if he sold it and how much he took under the $3500.

Let me get this right. The OP was trying to sell his set of gold coins so then he was acting like he was interested in buying the same kind of set? The only post I came across (in the OPEN forum) was the one I posted above. First time I ever heard of that selling technique being used on this forum. :D

I read the original post in the open forum as well saying he was very firm because the dealer offerd him $3200. That is why I became confused. I guess all these other posts were to make people look at his ebay auction but I think it was a little under handed.
If I was him, I would have snatched the dealers arm off that offered him $3200 because I was taking the money out of his hand so fast. But that may have been one of his sails techniques trying to show value to his set. I guess we will never know.:rolling:
