Good deals for key dates?

I have the opportunity to buy some slabbed key date coins from a friend. I'm not especially interested in high grade coins for these series...I just want to fill some holes, so these seem perfect. I was curious what others thought before I spent the money. I think they're all pretty good deals.

    First is a 14-D cent ANACS VG-8 for $185
Second is a 28 Peace dollar NGC AG-3 for $200
Last is a 21-D Walking Liberty half ANACS G-6 for $260

    What do you all think?

Assuming problem free coins and graded correctly - 1914-D over 200 on heritage, 21-D 275 to 340. The 1928 peace dollar did not have anything comparable but 2 F-2 went for around $200. So to me based off this it sounds like a decent deal - again assuming no problem coins. Just my opinion.

I would say yes to the first one and no to the second and third

    The penny yes.

The other two, no way. There are better prices for those coins in same condition out there.

To answer the first poster, yes all of the coins are problem free. No "cleaned" or "details" grading.

Well, I guess I'm a little surprised by the last two responses. I just spent quite a bit of time looking through eBay completed auctions and Heritage completed auctions.

Like the first poster said, there isn't much out there on 1928 Peace dollars under XF40, but Heritage does show two Fair-2 coins that sold. One in 2006 in an ANACS slab for $173. Then another in 2008 in an ICG slab for $195. Three things...it's two years later, it's an NGC slab, and AG-3 instead of FR-2. Those things make me believe that $200 is an OK price.

Same deal for the 21-D half. Lots more to compare with on that one. In the Heritage archives, I have to go back to 2006 before I can find another G-6 that sold for less than $260.

I agree with you Klunky regarding the walker and lincoln! I have looked at prices on these dates quite a bit, and I think that they are both great deals! Of course, some coins that make that grade are total dogs, so as long as they at least have average eye appeal, I'd go for it! I don't know enough about the Peace dollar to comment.

To me (if you like the coins) those prices are on the better side of good. If you have the dough and like the coins pull the trigger.
