I read that as "I do not want any other coin except the 1933". Nothiong I see implies the status of the 1933.
Speaking of status, does anyone know what's going on with the other 33's that escaped/survived? Is it still in litigation? Ribbit
Some very good picks here and I'd like all of them. Not unusally into proof only issues but an 1885 Proof Trade Dollar would be nice.
1849 double eagle. 2 minted, only 1 known (at the Smithsonian). Should the other ever surface, it would easily go for over $10,000,000.
For me it isn't anything rare or fancy. I have simply always wanted a $20 St. Gaudens. There was a time when I "could" have purchased several NGC slabbed saints for $700 and $750 each. But I passed.
The 1794 Silver Dollar sold today for $7.85 million has to be a candidate... it's considered by some to be the very first Silver Dollar struck.
I've held an 1804 Dollar, but I got a much bigger thrill from a 1793 Wreath Cent MS65 Prooflike. Oh my goodness gracious... what an awesome piece of work. It was a Dan Holmes coin; while I was in no position to bid on such a thing, that was the closest thing to a "Holy Grail" coin I've ever held.
While there a lot of coins that are more money at the last show I was at I got the pleasure of looking at a 1792 Half Dsime in a PCGS MS65 holder. Definitely one of the most historical coins ever produced in our country.
Julian Leidman's avatar on PCGS. High relief Indian Head double eagle. It's a pattern, but what a cool piece. And no, I've never seen it in person.
Since I am fond of copper and my collection is pretty much all copper, for me I'd have to say the 1943 copper penny would by my "holy grail" coin. Learn more about this elusive penny here: http://coins.about.com/od/famousrarecoinprofiles/a/1943copper_cent.htm
I have to go with this one. 1793 NC-5 Large Cent. The ONE that even Dan Holmes couldn't get. Created using coins from other pairings which Dan did own. The single example is permanently impounded in the American Numismatic Society collection.
The holy grail of US coins...I've got to agree with coin-freak. It's the 1907, High Relief, Wire Rim, St Gaudens Double Eagle. An absolute monster of a coin! It's got it all baby; rarity, high dollar value, sex appeal.
The '13 nickel has always been my favorite coin. A coin I would like and could afford.....1848 'Cal' 2 1/2.......
