Just thought it would be cool to see those coins some goof decided to drill a hole through, but still have a place in your collection>>>
Here's a holed and broken one. I've been wondering whether they broke it trying to make a whole, whether it broke off of what it was attached to, or whether it broke when it was dug up. Wish I could tell. Edit: And for those who want to see the attribution: Nerva AD 96-98 AR Denarius RIC 31 O: IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P II COS III P P, laureate head righ R: LIBERTAS PVBLICA, Libertas standing left, holding pileus and scepter
Hmm, the persons name escapes me, but there is someone on here who has a type collection with only holed coins in it.
looks like you got the hole coin get it get it....... that joke was as dumb as the person who drilled through those coins
i got over 20 coins with holes in them. i will get some pictures, but the saddest one is my 1876 seated liberty dime. they made it into a love token and drilled a hole in her head!
I at least have reason to post this again now (my most expensive holed coin, haha) I'll try to take pictures of the rest of the set this week.
Back then, when these coins were worth a lot less, drilling a hole in one or two wasn't that big of a deal. Now due to the coin's increase in value over the years, we value it more so the paradigm will be a bit different.
